Introductions
Special Guest Presentation – Prop 3
District Prop 3 presentation – PTO is encouraged to promote on PSO and personal social media accounts and
encouraged to provide information at parent / teacher conferences etc. Mary Lapak, Chief Communication Officer,
presented, and Kate Moore, School Community Relations Specialist, also contributed to the presentation and discussion.
Minutes
September 2023 draft meeting minutes reviewed – Motion was made to approve minutes. The motion was seconded
and passed.
President’s Report – Jenifer Robertson
- Presidents Forum on Oct 11th at 9:30 am in the Annex in Eureka – Jen is looking for someone to attend on her
behalf.
Principal’s Report – Dr. Hayes (no report)
Counselor’s Report – (no report)
Treasurer’s Report – September activity reviewed (see Treasurer’s report).
Vice President’s Reports:
School Community – Julie Southwick / April Ladner –
- Student Celebrations – first SOTM went well, donuts and music added. Budget will be closer to $500 for the
year. Student recognition will also include Merlin this year and still determining how much will be needed (as
that recognition will involve more students).
- Conference Dinners – Sign-up for donations is available – first dinner next Tuesday (tacos) and then Thursday
will be chili and baked potatoes). Jess will promote on social media.
- New Family Welcome – Went well with one family in attendance. Discussing ideas for this event going forward.
- October Staff Birthdays – Recognized last week and gift bags were given. Next one will be Nov. 11th, and will
donation signup will be open after conference dinners.
- Staff Recognitions – PSO will work on recognizing other building staff (Custodians Day, Nurses Day, etc.)
Communications – Jen Adams
- Newsletter will include Prop 3 info.
- Social Media – Jess Brown – Question was raised on why conferences were not offered on Zoom. District no
longer has Zoom license and also did not have a high demand for video conferences in the prior year.
Fundraising – Devon Bussen –
- Dine to Donate - $92.43 from MOD Pizza (similar to last year). Panda Express scheduled for October 28th all day.
Working on a flyer and will coordinate the Jess for Social Media.
- School Store – Going well. Still TBD when Smoothie King will come on Mondays. Considering opening school
store on Mondays until Smoothie King comes.
- Fun Food Friday – First one is Oct 20th – discussed separately tracking punch cards and decided against it to keep
it simple.
- FACS Kits – Devon is taking over and has ordered enough for 48 kits at a cost of approximately $5.31 per kit
(charging $15).
- School Supply Kits – New contract for next year and is due by Oct 31st to get the discount. Also have a referral
for Pond which will give us an extra $100 off. Discussed late arrival of kits before orientation last year.
School Events - Stephanie Stempf –
- Glow Bash – Committee meeting today to fine tune the details. T-shirts will be in for distribution by Oct 20th.
Working on volunteer needs and will get info. to Jen to put out a signup. Also discussed event night logistics and
best way to get students signed in.
- Fun Run planning has stalled so discussed moving to a spring event or possibly be an outreach to include rising
6th graders.
- Trivia Night – One parent interested in chairing, but looking for a co-chair. Date is tentatively Mar. 8th
- 6th Grade Fun & Field & 8th Grade Farewell Events – Few parents interested, still need chair for 8th grade, will
focus beginning of 2024
Service Projects – Jenny Arbuszewski –
- Adopt a Family – Moving along well per discussion with Stacey Scott
- Coin Drive – Organizing signup
- Staff Grants – Funded $5,160 in grants including Dream Boxes incentives, dry erase boards, flexible seating,
learning subscriptions, book battle, and Wellness Day (supplies costs, etc.), Spanish Club, garden improvements,
classroom supplies, replace Smart Board with TV in the library, Cooking after school club. Prize Patrol will
surprise teachers on Friday.
